Gloucester Freight Latest News

I always think that word of mouth recommendations are the best marketing tools you can have. This worked to our benefit recently when a client recommended us to one of their French-based customers.

They needed to ship three large housings plus the ancillary equipment for a digital telephone system to Gabon, Africa. The first problem we encountered was that due to the high value of the goods they could not be stored on deck.

This meant we had to find a service where they could be stored below deck. Our next problem was that the crates were too tall for the usual height doors for loading. In addition the ancillary equipment included numerous batteries which are hazardous when shipping.

The ancillary equipment was eventually loaded into a 1 x 40 foot container which we purchased specially for the client. As it was the shipping line taking the housings had to be persuaded to also take the container. If we had split the consignment and sent it on two vessels the paperwork would have been extremely complicated.

In fact, the import paperwork required by the Gabon government turned out to be incredibly convoluted and time consuming. We also required an independent company to inspect all of the goods to the satisfaction of the Gabon authorities.

Nevertheless, we got the job done and have another satisfied customer.
