I always think that word of mouth recommendations are the best marketing tools you can have. This worked to our benefit recently when a client recommended us to one of their French-based customers.
They needed to ship three large housings plus the ancillary equipment for a digital telephone system to Gabon, Africa. The first problem we encountered was that due to the high value of the goods they could not be stored on deck.
This meant we had to find a service where they could be stored below deck. Our next problem was that the crates were too tall for the usual height doors for loading. In addition the ancillary equipment included numerous batteries which are hazardous when shipping.

I read recently that Transport Secretary Chris Grayling has announced proposals for a major uplift in electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The hope is, of course, that this will pave the way for widespread adoption of low emission vehicles on our roads.
However, I also read the response from Richard Burnett, chief executive of the Road Haulage Association (RHA). “Of course we want clean air”, he said, “and we welcome this boost to encourage greener motoring. But for the operators of the UK’s 493,600 HGVs, the idea of switching to electric vehicles remains a very long way off.
